Promoting leadership as a student council representative, Rebecca also participates in competitions with her school robotics club. Through these activities Rebecca has learned to understand how important good communication and keeping a positive attitude is when challenges arise. Rebecca enjoys being actively involved in school community in Codroy Valley, NFLD, encouraging leadership and school spirit.

Rebecca wants to partake in the Relay because "I think it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Rick Hansen is an amazing and courageous person. I want to be one of the people to spread his message all over the world. No matter who you are, where you live, what you believe in, what your disability is, we should all be treated equally, " she said. "Rick inspired many people to overcome challenges. I am honoured to be a part of his legacy and be inspired by his strength and courage."

For Rebecca, the biggest difference maker in her life is her mom, who Rebecca says is her role model for her kind and caring ways. "My mom always says I can be anything I want to be and to work hard. She encourages me to be a strong and confident person and to be proud of who I am."
