Hometown: Riverview, New Brunswick

Nominated by the Town of Riverview, Phyllis Brisee is a true difference maker in her community: a cofounder of the "Ability Club" 30 years ago, a member of the Moncton accessibility committee for 20 years, a member of the Riverview advisory committee for persons with disabilities for 19 years, a member of Easter Seals New Brunswick and a member of the Canadian Paraplegic Association. Phyllis was instrumental in establishing Ability Transit for persons with disabilities in Moncton and also the establishment of a contracted transit system for persons with disabilities in the Town of Riverview.

 

A remarkable difference maker breaking barriers for people with disabilities and an inspiring role model for all Canadians, Phyllis is proof we can all do our part to bring positive change in our communities for generations to come.

Phyllis carried the Rick Hansen Medal on day 39 of the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay in Riverview, New Brunswick.
